who are we?
I'm Russell, founder and coach at Marginal Gains Cycling.
My approach has been shaped by my own experience racing professionally and more than a decade of coaching cyclists.
But these days, I also understand the challenge of fitting training around work, family and everything else that comes with real life.
That's why Marginal Gains isn't about training as much as possible. It's about identifying the training that matters, recovering well enough to absorb it and consistently making the most of the time you have available.
Quality over quantity. Consistency over hero weeks.

Cycling Coaching for Busy Cyclists Who Still Want to Get Faster
Personalised coaching built around your training time, work, family and goals. You don't need more hours, you need to get more from the hours you have. Marginal Gains Cycling helps busy Masters cyclists train with more structure, manage fatigue and prepare properly for the events that matter to them.
Training Has to Fit Around Real Life
Work. Family. Stress. Sleep. Recovery. They all affect the training you can do and, more importantly, the training you can actually absorb.
That's why I don't believe in simply adding more volume or more intensity. Your training should be built around you.
Your available time. Your current fitness. Your recovery. Your strengths and weaknesses. And the goals you're working towards.
The objective is simple: Get the maximum return from the training time you have available.
